You can construct your own route, trail by trail, using the Switchback Mapplet. The Switchback Mapplet is very intuitive and has help built in. Check out the Visual Guide for an overview if you like. The Switchback Mapplet requires a relatively recent version of the Java Plug-in . If need be, when you start the Mapplet, you'll get an opportunity to install/upgrade to the latest version (a 5-10 minute download on 56k access - but more than worth the wait!).
